Getting Leadership Out of the Queue

The leadership team was absorbing work the process should have handled. Clear ownership gave them their week back.

The challenge

Every exception climbed to the top because no threshold said where it should stop. Senior managers spent their days clearing queues that approvals, placed correctly, would never have created.

What we did

  1. Placed approvals where risk actually sits rather than where hierarchy sits.

  2. Set thresholds that let routine work clear without senior involvement.

  3. Published a RACI map so escalation had a defined path and an end point.

  4. Replaced ad-hoc firefighting with a standing weekly operating review.
